Ways to Cure and Avoid Hangovers

It’s Saturday night, you and your buddies decide to go out for some drinks but you had too much to drink and wake up the next morning realizing it was a bad idea. Your head is throbbing, you’re feeling nauseous, and you just want to lie in bed all day. You swear never to drink again, only to do this all over again next weekend and feel the same way. Follow these steps to help avoid and cure hangovers next time you go out again.

Food

Many tend to think that because beer has calories, it accounts for dinner. BUT- it doesn’t. Remember to never drink on an empty stomach because your body will absorb the alcohol faster. The more you drink on an empty stomach, the likelier you are to get a hangover the next morning. Next time you go drinking, make sure to have a healthy meal and one that has lots of carbohydrates.

Stay away from dark drinks

The last thing to keep in mind next time you go out drinking with your friends, is to keep your drinks light. Darker drinks including whiskey and red wine contain something called congeners. Congener is a substance that is made during fermentation, which helps develop hangovers. So if you want to steer clear of a hangover the next morning, try going for some white wine or some vodka next time!

Drink lots of water

Water, water, water…. we can’t emphasize water enough. Water basically makes up all the tissues around the brain and being dehydrated will cause those tissues to shrink, which in turn gives a headache. Drinking alcohol will cause dehydration, so that means the more you drink, the more tissues will shrink. But if you take a shot of Vodka and then a shot of water after, it gets evened out.

Eat Eggs

If you didn’t listen to some of our previous two suggestions, you will most likely wake up with a hangover or feel terrible the next day. Try eating some eggs first thing in the morning. Eggs have something called taurine- which is said to help reverse liver damage. Make an omelette or just plain old scramble eggs will do.

Drink some Ginger Tea

If you woke up with an upset stomach, don’t worry because it’s normal. A side effect of a hangover includes getting an upset stomach. Try drinking some ginger tea next time to settle that tummy. It has also been said that ginger can help calm nausea.
